Earth Body classes beginning June 2011

Taught by Maria Skinner and based on the book Body & Earth by Andrea Olsen

Class is on Fridays 9:00-9:45am
Fee: $10 per class.

This class will be held in the spirit of Body as University. The course of “study” exists in our lives. We do not have to leave our regular lives to experience “higher education” See Workshop Page for details and curriculum!

Maria Skinner will be completing her practicums with Casey Bernstein.

Maria will be participating in Camden, ME the week of September 17 - September 23. Join us as we step into the role of Nia Trainer with Casey, one of the best Nia Trainers ever!

What can I expect to learn during the training?

Nia White Belt Training in 2012 at Yoga & Nia For Life with Maria Skinner & Allison Wright

White Belt Training with Maria Skinner & Allison Wright

January 19-22 and 27-29, 2011

The White Belt Training is the first level in Nia’s five-belt training series that presents a body-centered approach to health, wellness and fitness. Focused on physical sensation, White Belt is all about falling in love with your body as you learn to sustain and increase the sensation of pleasure and self-healing in your body. During this training you will be introduced to the first 13 Nia principles, beginning with Principle 1: The Joy of Movement. You will be guided to place your attention on yourself and your body, using movement to develop your cognitive and somatic awareness. This training is appropriate for all ages, fitness levels, and professional backgrounds and is held over two long weekends.

The $1599 price of the White Belt Training includes:

    * 7-days, including 50+ hours of somatic education

    * 200+ page White Belt Learn book

    * Access to Nia's online Community Forum

    * Nia White Belt (upon graduation)

Maria Skinner is a Black Belt Nia Teacher and White Belt Trainer. Maria views every movement as a sacred act. Her dedication to living an embodied life as well as her ability to elegantly blend the joyful party with deep awareness are just two of the many things students love about her teaching. With over 30 years experience in the movement arts, she masterfully delivers the Nia promises of cardiovascular conditioning and deep healing. Maria has a BA in Art History and lives on an organic farm in Groton, MA.

Allison Wright is a Black Belt Nia Teacher and White Belt Trainer. Those who have trained with her know her as a master storyteller, rockstar musician, and truly gifted teacher. Allison shows you how to hear music with your whole body. Her fun yet relaxed approach to the Nia training experience invites individuals to awaken through sensing; to become more self-aware in body, mind, emotions and spirit as they dance through life. Allison has a BA in holistic psychology and lives in Portland, OR where she works for Nia's International Headquarters.
